MOTHMA PAGE #23

Enemies of Mothma:

Enemies of Mothma generally consist of Bugs and Bug-Lovers. Not all bugs are enemies of Mothma; it is mainly arachnids, the spiders in particular. When confronted with an enemy of Mothma the immediate instinct is to “smash the fuck out of it” right out. However some of the assumed enemies are not actually out to hurt Mothma or Mothmanics. Some are out to protect Mothma and His followers. However there are one particular breed of enemy of Mothma that is hated more than any other enemy. These are called “Earwiggians”.

EVIL

Earwiggians
ear·wig (îrwg)
n.
Any of various elongate insects of the order Dermaptera, having a pair of pincerlike appendages protruding from the rear of the abdomen.

tr.v. ear·wigged, ear·wig·ging, ear·wigs
To attempt to influence by persistent confidential argument or talk.

[Middle English erwig, from Old English arwicga : are, ear; see ear1 + wicga, insect; see wegh- in Indo-European Roots.]

Earwigs are a sworn enemy of all Mothmanics, not just because of their loathsome appearance, but because they stand for everything that constitutes, in humanity, that which keeps others from awakening to the glories of the Great Moth.
For one to know the truth of this claim, one need only have found these detestable creatures lurking inside of a shoe, barbecue pit, or pack of cigarettes.  These are certainly less common experiences with these vermin, but they are the most persistently engaging as far as religious modes of thought are concerned.  Surely such an occasion turns the recipient’s mind to the necessary obliteration of this prolific menace.  Also, of course, is the other meaning of “earwig,” and though it’s something of an anachronistic colloquialism, to forget that it epitomizes everything Mothmanics revile in a human being means that it remains relevant.  Mothmanics are generally, if not honest, at least fairly direct in their approach to life.  To sway others by (in short) nagging them into obedience is never a desirable course of action.
The Earwiggians are foolish, and cocky, thinking that they can even sometimes “call out” the Holy Deity, claiming that He is nothing more than a silly drinking game, or a made up God. This angers Mothma beyond anything that could possibly anger Him. It is then placed in the hands of the High Priests, should they accept to take it into their hands, to take care of the blasphemer. The High Priests may also choose in any way how to punish the Earwiggian, with the exception of violence as it is not Mothma’s way. Should the offender be seen as needing violence, Mothma will actually intervene and take care of the problem all on His own, still keeping His distance. As it is written in Mothmanic law, He is a fickle, and should be allowed to torture His enemies on His own, in His own way unless of course it is bestowed on the Priests.

Earwiggians also have a tendancy to "believe in Mothma", then shun all his beliefs and his circle of High Priests in his sect. This of course is by FAR the worst thing any earwiggian can possibly do and is almost NEVER able to be repaired once the said ex-follower has realized that Mothma and the Priests in his sect are far more important than some silly childish "objective" they may think needed to be done.
